Meet the Contestants for 2011
Mike Nelson – Boulder, Utah
Mike Nelson grew up in the Salt Lake Valley, attended school in Logan at Utah State University with a degree in philosophy. He apprenticed at the same time (1991) under Jeff Broadbent.
Mike obtained a masters degree from the University of Utah in Park management and archaeology. He has worked for almost 20 years for Utah State Parks, working at such parks as Dead Horse Point, Snow Canyon, Jordanelle, and managing the Utah Field House of Natural History (Vernal), Edge of the Cedars Museum (Blanding), and currently at the Anasazi State Park Museum in Boulder, Utah. Has two kids, one seven-year old boy Zach, and a two-year old girl Izzybella. He lives with his partner Alyssa in a house he built on twenty acres, shared with dogs, horses, hawks, falcons, and a sundry of other animals.
